The American Civil War Stereoviews GLASS NEGATIVES book from the American Civil War Stereoviews series preserves history by presenting to the reader a vast and comprehensive array of more than 345 photographs from original time period glass negatives. All of the photographs compiled here are in the format of rarely seen and highly collectible glass stereoview negatives, also known as stereograph or stereoscopes. For the book series, some of the glass negative edges have been trimmed of deterioration to emphasize the subject matter pictured. The great historic value of each of the photographs and negatives shown here is readily apparent. A visual documentation from a time in our history provides the reader the opportunity to view a wide variety of photographs accurately capturing moments of actual history. Social norms of the period include everyday activities, camp life, clothing styles, living conditions, vessels, construction styles, towns, soldiers, civilians, battlefields, forts and more from daily life. Most of the scenes depicted have long since vanished forever.
