Alzire, Ou Les Americains: Tragedie is a play written by the French philosopher and writer Voltaire in 1736. The play is set in Peru during the Spanish conquest and tells the story of Alzire, a young Incan princess who falls in love with a Spanish soldier named Zamore. However, their love is threatened by the conflict between the Spanish and the Incas, and Alzire is forced to choose between her love for Zamore and her loyalty to her people. The play explores themes of love, loyalty, and the clash of cultures in a colonial context. It is considered one of Voltaire's most successful plays and is still performed today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
