Alphita: A Medico-Botanical Glossary, From The Bodleian Manuscript, Selden B. Thirty-Five (1887) is a book written by John Lancaster Gough Mowat. The book is a comprehensive glossary of medico-botanical terms, compiled from the Bodleian Manuscript, Selden B. Thirty-Five. The manuscript dates back to the 15th century and contains a wealth of information on the medicinal properties of plants. The book is divided into two parts. The first part contains an introduction to the manuscript and its history, as well as a discussion of the importance of the glossary in the study of medieval medicine. The second part is the glossary itself, which is organized alphabetically and contains over 1,000 entries. Each entry provides a detailed description of a plant's medicinal properties, as well as its uses in medieval medicine. Alphita: A Medico-Botanical Glossary is an important resource for anyone interested in the history of medicine or the use of plants in traditional medicine. The book provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of medieval medicine and the role that plants played in healing practices. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
