This fictional tale is about Betty Scott, who wanted to be a witch. Her wish came true over two hundred years ago when she encountered Lucifer, the devil himself, on Ahart Ridge in western Patrick County, Virginia. Jake Ahart, a local farmer, killed what he thought was a majestic white deer that turned out to be Betty Scott, who had shape shifted into the deer. The story ends tragically when the power of the witch is transferred to Jake's son. The book shares the history of witches coming from Scotland to Jamestown to Willis Gap in Virginia.
