Against Marcion V4 is a theological treatise written by Tertullian, a prominent early Christian writer and theologian. The book is part of a larger series of writings by Tertullian that are directed against the teachings of Marcion, a heretical Christian leader who rejected the Old Testament and believed in the existence of two separate gods. In this volume, Tertullian argues against Marcion's belief in the superiority of the New Testament over the Old Testament, and defends the unity of the Bible as a single, coherent message from God. He also critiques Marcion's interpretation of certain passages in the New Testament, and provides alternative explanations that are more consistent with traditional Christian doctrine. Throughout the book, Tertullian draws on his knowledge of Scripture and his understanding of Christian theology to refute Marcion's teachings and defend the orthodox faith. He also engages in philosophical and rhetorical arguments to persuade his readers of the truth of his position. Overall, Against Marcion V4 is an important work of early Christian theology that provides insight into the debates and controversies that shaped the development of Christian doctrine in the early centuries of the faith. We must follow, then, the clue(20) of our discussion, meeting every effort of our opponents with reciprocal vigor. I say that my Gospel is the true one; Marcion, that his is. I affirm that Marcion's Gospel is adulterated; Marcion, that mine is. Now what is to settle the point for us, except it be that principle(1) of time, which rules that the authority lies with that which shall be found to be more ancient; and assumes as an elemental truth, (2) that corruption (of doctrine) belongs to the side which shall be convicted of comparative lateness in its origin. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
