The Adventures of Scott & Lenny
By Leonard Serratore
What does it take to turn a childhood dream into a life soaring above the clouds? For Scotty and Lenny, two bright, passionate boys from Rockland County, New York, it begins with an unshakeable obsession with flight.
They grew up in the same county but never met. Yet both boys are quietly nurturing the same extraordinary dream: to one day command the skies. Scotty fills notebooks with hand-drawn airplanes. Lenny builds model aircraft piece by piece. Aviation isn't just a hobby, it's their calling.
Both chase that calling all the way to the top:
- Scotty: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, Arizona
- Lenny: Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida
There, they master everything it takes to truly own the skies:
- Aircraft anatomy & cockpit instruments
- Air traffic control & navigation
- Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR/AIM)
- Real solo flights & flight examinations
As the book reminds us, aviation is terribly unforgiving of carelessness, incapacity, or neglect. Scotty and Lenny earn their wings the right way, through discipline, perseverance, and an unrelenting love of flight.
After graduating, both men make a bold pivot, choosing careers as airport operations coordinators and returning to New York. Then fate delivers one final twist: both apply for the same position at Westchester County Airport, get hired, and meet each other for the very first time.
Same county. Same dream. Same airport. One extraordinary handshake.
The Adventures of Scott & Lenny is a vibrant, illustrated story for young readers and aviation enthusiasts alike, a celebration of shared dreams, the courage to chase them, and the coincidences that bring kindred spirits together. The perfect first chapter in a series that will inspire a new generation to look up and dream big.
