Ben Nelson was the happiest he had ever been in his life. He married the woman of his dreams, had a beautiful daughter, and was at the peak of his career as a writer with a successful run of a series of books titled The Adventures of Darcy Malone where Darcy Malone was a world renown private detective.
Now, fifteen years later and having faced a series of tragedies, Ben finds himself with his career behind him, widowed, and living alone. When he falls in his bedroom and can't get up, he realizes that he is going to die alone on the floor. In spite of having complained about life as much as he has, he says out loud that he wants to live, but he knows he won't be able to survive five more days until his housekeeper returns on Monday morning. When he believes that all hope is lost, he is surprised by a knock on his bedroom door. A middle aged lady comes in and saves his life. When he has recovered enough to ask her if he knows her, she replies Of course, you know me. I'm Darcy Malone.
Follow Ben on his journey from the darkest place imaginable. With Darcy's help and guidance, will he be able to rebuild his life? If a fictional character makes the great effort to find him in the real world and save him, will she want something in return?
