First published in 1940, The Adventures of a Mountaineer is a highly detailed account of the expeditions of Frank Smythe, most famous for mountaineering in the Alps and the Himalayas, where he discovered The Valley of Flowers - now a protected national park.
From his expeditions up Mont Blanc and Mount Everest to being struck by lightning during his ascent of the Aiguille du Plan in the French Alps, Smythe fills each page with breath-taking stories of his climbs.
Frank Smythe was an English mountaineer, author and botanist. He began his mountaineering career in the alps and, in 1936, successfully ascended Mount Kamet, then the highest peak to have been climbed. He was a prolific author penning twenty-seven books in total, and his adventures continue to inspire passionate climbers and mountaineers of today.
