Additional Hymns is a historical collection of hymns authorized for use in the congregations of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America. Compiled at the request of both clerical and lay deputies during the General Convention of October 1865, this volume reflects the musical and theological preferences of the era. This collection offers a glimpse into the worship practices and spiritual life of 19th-century Episcopalians. These hymns provide insight into the religious sentiments and musical tastes of the time, appealing to those interested in church history, liturgical music, and the development of American religious traditions.
