The Acts and Monuments of the Church, also known as Foxe's Book of Martyrs, is a historical account of the Christian martyrs throughout history. Written by John Foxe, a 16th-century English historian and Protestant, the book chronicles the lives and deaths of those who were persecuted for their faith, including early Christians in the Roman Empire, the Protestant reformers of the 16th century, and others. The first volume of the book covers the period from the apostolic age to the reign of Henry VIII in England.
