Across The Salt Seas: A Romance Of The War Of Succession (1897) is a historical novel written by John Bloundelle-Burton. The story is set in the 18th century during the War of Spanish Succession and follows the journey of a young Englishman named Anthony Trent. Trent travels across the seas to Spain in search of his lost love, the beautiful Constanza, who has been taken captive by the ruthless Duke of Ormonde. Along the way, Trent encounters a variety of characters, including pirates, smugglers, and Spanish nobility. He also becomes embroiled in the political intrigue of the time, as various factions struggle for power and control. As Trent navigates this dangerous world, he must also confront his own feelings of love and loyalty, and ultimately decide where his allegiances lie. Bloundelle-Burton's novel is a thrilling adventure story, filled with romance, action, and historical detail. It is a classic example of the popular historical fiction genre of the late 19th century, and remains a beloved work of literature to this day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
