Accumulate: What Really Builds Your Career

If the only capital you are building is financial, the asset you are wasting is time.

People roll their eyes at the interview question, Where do you see yourself in five years? The honest answer is usually: no idea.

Yet the average career lasts forty years or more. We cannot see five years ahead, but we still have to build something that lasts forty.

Most people respond by optimizing for salary, titles, and momentum. But those are often the first assets to lose value when the structure shifts.

In her third book, Accumulate, tech entrepreneur, investor, and author Anu Bulusu introduces a practical lens for viewing your career as a portfolio of five capitals: internal, contextual, credibility, influence, and financial. Together, they explain why some people recover quickly from setbacks, adapt more easily to change, and build careers that endure.

Accumulate the assets that will keep working for you.

This is not a guide to quick wins.

It is a framework for going far.
