A Tale of Thievery is a novel written by Levi Henry Elwell and first published in 1890. The story is set in the late 19th century and follows the life of a young man named Tom, who is forced to turn to a life of crime in order to support himself and his sick mother. Tom is a skilled thief and soon becomes known as one of the best in the business. However, his criminal activities eventually catch up with him and he is forced to flee from the law. As Tom tries to evade capture, he meets a young woman named Mary, who becomes his accomplice and partner in crime. Together, they embark on a series of daring heists and robberies, always staying one step ahead of the police. However, as their success grows, so does their notoriety, and they soon become the most wanted criminals in the country. As the story progresses, Tom and Mary's relationship becomes increasingly strained, and they begin to question whether their life of crime is worth the risks they are taking. The novel explores themes of morality, loyalty, and the consequences of one's actions. Overall, A Tale of Thievery is a thrilling and suspenseful novel that offers a vivid portrayal of life in the criminal underworld of the late 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
