Kenneth Meyer participates in writers' groups and projects in the Pacific northwest. In an earlier period he lived and worked for several years in Greece and Cyprus. Later he studied classical Greek at Western Washington University. Over the course of several visits to Venice and reading about that magical city, he learned that some scholars estimate that in the early 1500s as much as ten percent of the population may have been Greek emigres, fleeing west after the 1453 CE fall of Constantinople. These newcomers were teachers, scholars, worked in publishing, and served Venetian patrician families as guards and soldiers, etc. Ken said, There's a good story here.
