A compelling re-examination of the missionary/counter-missionary drama. Appalled by the nefarious tactics of Christian missionaries disguised as Jews, Rabbanit Simani pens a personal letter to those misled by their wiles. In the process, she takes the offensive and meets the Jews for Jesus organization head-on. A Reaction to Messianic Missionaries peers deep into the characters and sources for both Jewish and Christian Messianic claims.
In Part I, Wolves in sheep's clothing, Rabbanit Simani introduces the reader to recent events that prompted writing A Reaction to Messianic Missionaries and an explanation of the development of the Messianic Jewish movement. She proceeds to examine their so-called Isaiah 53 Campaign - a well-funded, aggressive effort targeting Jews with misinformation with the expressed goal of converting as many as possible to their disguised form of Christianity. To this, the rabbanit gives clear, rational, evidence-based counter-arguments.
Part II, How we got where we are, outlines the diverging and conflicting historical paths of the intriguing development of Judaism and Christianity. Rabbanit Simani weaves a fascinating tapestry with hues from the faith of Abraham to the Yeshivoth of Hillel and Shammai and from the dark, primal mysteries to the conquests of Alexander the Great.
It is in Part III, Why Jews reject Christianity, that the rabbanit ties all strands together with her unique perspectives on why the Messianic missionaries are wrong to target Jews. Not since the Passover Plot has the public been offered such a dynamic perspective of the origins of Early Christianity. A must-read for anyone seriously interested in who was or will be the Messiah.
