Bridget Miksch was diagnosed with brain cancer on the stem and given a prognosis of about one year to live at the young age of fourteen. Living a full six years beyond the prognosis, she inspired her friends and family through her strong faith and her determination in continuing to play sports and attend high school. She endured chemotherapy and radiation therapy while attending classes, and not many people knew about this quiet battle. Bridget was a great artist, athlete, and student. As she continued to face her suffering, she grew in her prayer life and frequently spent time with Jesus via the Eucharist and Adoration. Her writings, artwork, and prayers are featured throughout the book, along with the several stories of her life's journey and the many God moments that happened during and after her passing.
A Beautiful Soul's main goal is to relay the power of prayer and redemptive suffering in daily living through small, loving acts. It doesn't matter how painful one's life is; there is still great joy to be had and treasures stored in heaven when we unite our own sufferings with the cross of Jesus. This book is appealing to Christian audiences as it is an inspiring story of how we are called to be saints and to take up our cross daily as Bridget did with her walk with cancer.
