In Fox Hollow, a treasured friendship arises between the owner of a small farm and a critically injured red fox named Zippy. Amidst the challenges they face, hope, knowledge, and joy emerge reminding us of the beauty that comes from nurturing fragile lives and from preserving their wild spirits.
Margo, the story's compassionate author, shares her journey with Zippy as he fights to live and thrive on her land. From his arrival to the time when he finds a mate and raises his own family, she reflects upon the resilience and fragility of the foxes that live in her midst.
Most every evening, Margo awaits the arrival of the fox families and is fascinated by their playful behavior and acrobatic leaps. Each kit, a unique embodiment of Zippy's legacy, brings joy to her life. However, the harsh realities bring her to her knees as she desperately defends the foxes from both human and animal predators who encroach upon her property. A poignant encounter with an orphaned kit named String further deepens her connection with Zippy and the bond they share as she watches String fight to overcome starvation, mange, and abandonment. Margo focuses upon educating the public on the merits of red foxes while advocating to preserve their dwindling habitats.
Three Paws is not just a story about foxes; it is a testament to love, loss, and the enduring spirit of nature. Margo's journey inspires readers to cherish and advocate for the wildlife that share our world, ensuring that their stories continue to thrive.
