First Report by the Citizens' Committee of Portland, Maine, offers a revealing glimpse into the social and economic conditions of late 19th-century urban life. This important historical document sheds light on poverty, public health, and the challenges faced by the working class in a growing American city. The report provides valuable insights into the social reform movements of the era and the efforts to address urban inequality. A crucial resource for understanding the historical context of social welfare and urban development in the United States.
