After his family relocates to Podunk, a small town in upstate New York, Kevin Patrick endures the jealousy and suspicions of a close-knit community with no interest in outsiders. He meets Delores Goodwin (Deedee), a pretty young girl who proves to be both the gateway into the closed society and a portal to self-awareness and danger. Kevin's struggle for adulthood and acceptance in Podunk takes him through gang assaults, school problems, youthful adventures, the town's struggle for survival during a deadly blizzard, his gradual acceptance by the community, the murder of a New York State Trooper and finally the loss of one friend to crime and another friend to the grave. A must read! The lively cadence and well-drawn characters won't let you put it down! A sensitive story filled with humor and action.
