Jesus calls us to remain in him, to live with him, to abide with him. Being a Christian is not about a right belief. It is about a right relationship. That should come as no surprise because we are created in the image of a relational God, known to us in a beautiful connection as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And miracle of miracles, that God wants to be in relationship with us. Developing any healthy relationship takes time, especially when it is with the Lord of the Universe. That is what this book is about. Spending time with Jesus.
Mark Hikes writes from personal experience and I have been blessed to share in his story as a pastor and a brother in Jesus. He is a Christ-follower who deeply desires to bring others along on the journey. Mark is an influencer, not in a pop culture or social media manner but in a very Christ-like way. He draws people together, youth and adults alike, and in the process we find ourselves being drawn closer to God. His own transformation gives credence to the truth which he shares in this volume.
The author has learned that the key to developing a relation-ship with Jesus is sharing life with him. He invites us to do the same. 15 Minutes with Jesus is not a methodology about developing small groups. It does not offer a checklist of steps for powerful disciple making. Different from another bible study, it is an example, a witness if you will, to one way in which lives can be transformed by the power of the Holy Scripture as it is applied to everyday life.
If you are seeking a deeper relationship with Christ, on the personal level, or within your shared life with others, I encourage you to spend some time with this book. More importantly, spend 15 minutes with Jesus. You will forever be glad that you did.
