The narrative has a wonderfully simplistic approach that will be able to help connect young readers to the message being delivered by the author. At the end of the book, Lauren Martin explains her relationship with spirituality and her journey that started at a very young age. Lauren Martin's One Wave opened my eyes in many ways. For one, it felt like a literal sign that I was on the right path, and to keep forging ahead. On another level, I viewed it as a beautifully crafted letter to the world of how we are meant to live and how we are meant to treat others. The book is going to appeal to readers of all ages, not just young developing minds, but also those with much older hearts. The best kind of book you can read to a child is one that opens your mind and heart as well. The illustrations were also created by the author. She finds a wonderful balance by focusing on the subjects and surrounding them with white space, which brings an even more complete emphasis on the images and what is taking place. The illustrations feel familiar in a nostalgic way, but offer a total newness to the narrative.
