A six-year-old who is still learning to read. Two eights. A nine. A ten who reads better than you do. And a twelve-year-old who has been coming since she was four and would rather be with the teenagers.
That is your room. And almost nobody writes lessons for it.
Sunday school resources are written for a single age band. Ages 6-8. Ages 9-11. Somebody, somewhere, imagines a class of eleven identical eight-year-olds. So the volunteer aims at the middle - and ends up too fast for the youngest, too slow for the oldest, and only just right for nobody in particular.
This book is built for the room you actually have.
HOW IT WORKS
One passage. One telling. One activity. Everybody in it. What changes is the job, not the content.
Every one of the forty lessons gives you:
- One telling of the story, written to be read aloud to the whole room at once
- Three sets of questions - ages 6-7, 8-10 and 11-12 - including one genuinely hard question for the oldest, with no settled answer
- One activity with three different jobs in it, so nobody is standing there watching
- The memory verse three ways: a phrase, the verse, and the verse with a question attached - said together, all three at once, so every child succeeds out loud
- One closing sentence that works for all of them
- A note on exactly what to cut when your room is lopsided this week

Each unit is a half-term. The lessons also stand alone, so you can pick one on a Saturday night without having taught the four before it.

Scripture is from the King James Version, which is in the public domain, always with chapter and verse, and always with the plain-English swap for the words that stop a nine-year-old. Nothing here uses fear or guilt as a teaching method, and no lesson ever compares the ages out loud.
