She was hired to protect injured players.
He has spent nine years waiting for one final chance.
Dr Aileen McCumiskey arrives in Iron Bay determined to rebuild her career and create a medical system no coach, executive, or headline can control. Her first challenge is Collins Murigi, a twenty-seven-year-old rookie centre desperate to earn his place before the most important game of his life.
Collins insists his reconstructed knee is ready.
Aileen sees the hesitation he is trying to hide.
When she discovers missing tests, altered results, and a rehabilitation history that may have been deliberately falsified, their conflict turns into an uneasy alliance. Someone used Collins's body to protect a contract, and exposing the truth could destroy more than his comeback.
But the closer they work, the harder it becomes to ignore the attraction neither of them can afford.
Aileen is nine years older, professionally responsible for the department reviewing his return, and already fighting a media scandal that nearly ended her career. Collins knows wanting her could make every medical decision look compromised.
Then the cameras begin following them.
To save his future, Collins must learn that stopping is not surrender. To protect the man she is falling for, Aileen may have to risk the career she rebuilt from nothing.
One More Last Period is a high-heat, slow-burn hockey romance featuring an older heroine, a younger comeback rookie, forbidden workplace attraction, sharp banter, medical intrigue, media pressure, found family, and a hard-earned happily ever after.
