The day my emotional parents let me know that our family was going to gain a new member, I had not turned seven yet. I was in first grade, learning to read, write and count as well as other skills: heckle when the teacher wasn't looking, or stuff my head with jokes in order to deliver them at break time to my school mates, was part of the syllabus, or at least, of my self-designed syllabus. At that time, I was also trying to become the best at spinning tops, and had precisely been practicing on the living room tiled floor when Mum came in (to tell the truth, Mum's belly came in before she did), followed by Dad, who looked somewhat ill-at-ease.
- Now, it's time for us to tell you, Honey, Mum started. In a few months, you'll be an older brother... We are expecting a baby...
- I knew it...
- Did you, really?
Then they had glanced at each other in smiling amazement... Black and white inner illustrations.
