What if the universe is not made of things at all?
Modern physics has achieved extraordinary precision, yet its shelves accumulate entities: dark matter that emits no light, dark energy that pushes the cosmos apart, particles that behave as waves, a time that flows yet appears in no equation. Each anomaly has been met with a new substance. This book proposes the opposite move: not to add, but to de-reify.
One-Field offers a single, disciplined reframe. The universe is not a container of objects but one unbroken occurrence - a continuity within which particles, fields, and forces are not things but qualifications: local expressions of a whole that always balances. Emergence and reintegration are two folds of one traversal, and summed they return the whole to zero. The spark was never missing; the mass was never lost; the arrow was never in the world. What was missing was a perspective that mistook its own instruments for reality.
Chapter by chapter, the book walks the foundations of physics - Newton's laws and Noether's theorem, quantum field theory, black-hole thermodynamics, inflation, the swampland programme - and reframes each frontier without inventing new substance. Time is shown to be a cognitive outcome, not a dimension to be shared. Entropy is shown to be a statistical measure of balance spreading, not decay. The observer is shown to be neither ghost nor machine but an occurrence among occurrences: a resonance lock that stabilises a usable world from an uncontained field.
This is not a theory of everything, and it does not claim to be. It is a foundational map: a proposal framed philosophically, built with physics in mind, and honest about its own boundaries - written for the reader of Rovelli, Penrose, Barbour, and Prigogine who has sensed that the next advance in physics may be an advance in perspective rather than in apparatus.
Where physics ends, art begins, and the attribution of meaning belongs to the observer. The map is not the territory. But a better map changes every journey across it.
