In his 3rd confession regarding the murder of his pregnant wife and 2 children, the author mentions premeditation of his crime in that he had tried to cause his wife to miscarry by poisoning her with a strong opiate. This failed, so a while later he dosed her up again and killed her by strangulation. He also admits to smothering his girls, they 'awaken' so he smothers them again near the oil well site where he disposed of the bodies (his wife and fetus in a shallow grave, and his girls in oil batteries). A theory is purported that Chris actually poisoned his children, rather than smothered them as part of a premeditated act before strangling his wife when she arrived home from a work conference. The annihilation of the family was performed to start a new life with his lover (Miss Kessinger). Nick gives excellent supporting information to corroborate his theory and it makes for compelling reading for any true crime fan interested in the Watts case. It forms part of a series of books discussing the case. I would recommend all of them as they build on each other to formulate an intelligent and cogent theory.
