Que el Dios de la esperanza los llene de toda alegrÃa y paz a ustedes que creen en él.1
Para la familia que se enfrenta a una ejecución hipotecaria...para el padre que ha sido diagnosticado con cáncer terminal...para la esposa que no ha podido concebir...para la jovencita considerando abortar...para los miles que han perdido su trabajo y sus ahorros de toda la vida...hay esperanza.
La Biblia dice que cada uno de nosotros fuimos creados por Dios...que él nos ama...y que quiere que tengamos una vida plena. Yo he venido para que tengan vida, y la tengan en abundancia, dijo Jesús.2 El se referÃa a una vida que es más que una simple existencia, una vida plena en el conocimiento y deseo que tiene el Creador de nosotros.
Pero hay algo que nos separa de esta vida abundante que Dios ha previsto. La Biblia dice que todos han pecado y están privados de la gloria de Dios.3 Es por este pecado, esta desobediencia hacia Dios, que toda persona está separada de él: son las iniquidades de ustedes las que los separan de su Dios. Son estos pecados los que lo llevan a ocultar su rostro para no escuchar.4 Y aún más atroz es la consecuencia del pecado, eterna separación de Dios--la paga del pecados es muerte.5
Sin embargo, en su amor y misericordia, Dios mandó a su hijo santo y sin mancha de pecado, Jesús, a pagar la deuda de nuestro pecado. Hace casi 2,000 años, Jesucristo murió en la cruz, fue enterrado, y resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer dÃa.6 Es solo por medio de la muerte de Jesús que podemos ser reconciliados con Dios. Y por medio de su muerte, Dios ofrece el regalo gratuito de la vida eterna a todo el que crea en su nombre.7
No hay mayor esperanza que esta--la garantÃa de una vida eterna atreves de Jesucristo, y su promesa de estar con nosotros y sustentarnos en todas la circunstancias:
Quién nos apartará del amor de Cristo? La tribulación, o la angustia, la persecución, el hambre, la indigencia, el peligro, o la violencia?....Pues estoy convencido de que ni la muerte ni la vida, ni los ángeles ni los demonios, ni lo presente ni lo por venir, ni los poderes, ni lo alto ni lo profundo, ni cosa alguna en toda la creación, podrá apartarnos del amor que Dios nos ha manifestado en Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.8
Hoy Dios te ofrece esta esperanza. Para aceptar esta oferta puedes comenzar por admitir que eres un pecador, separado de Dios y con necesidad de su perdón. Luego, confÃa solo en Jesucristo para salvarte de las consecuencias de tus pecados. Cree que Jesús murió por tus pecados en la cruz, y que fue resucitado de entre los muertos para vencer la muerte, asà cerrando la brecha que ha causado el pecado entre Dios y tú. Acepta la propuesta de Jesús de entrar a tu vida como tu Salvador.
Si tú sinceramente deseas tener esperanza en Cristo, dile a Dios con una oración parecida a esta:
Padre celestial, admito que soy un pecador y necesito tu perdón. Gracias por enviar a Jesús a sufrir el castigo que yo merecÃa por mis pecados. Ayúdame cada dÃa a dejar mi pecado y vivir una vida que te agrade. Gracias por tu regalo de una vida eterna y por la esperanza que ahora tengo en ti. Amén.
