Text is complete with evidence of water damping and some foxing. A very interesting German language guide for emigrants to North and South America, including historical information, charts calculating distances between major destinations, lists of lodgings and comparative travel costs. Spine tab is faded but binding is otherwise solid.
12mo, 226pgs. Yellow paper wraps with illustration of a wagon train on front cover and black titles on cover and spine. Interior text and black/white photographic plates are remarkably clean. Binding is fragile but NO pages are detached, first couple of signatures are loose. Covers have mild rubbing and a light damp stain at tail edge of front cover, plus a couple of light scuff marks. Tail portion of spine is taped and there is creasing to spine. Covers have a couple of very small chips and creases at extremities.
Henry Holt, 1922. Green cloth, blind-embossed, with gilt titles. Minor shelfwear, mainly slight rubbing to edges and bumping to corners. Some dust-soiling to page edge. Green ribbon attached, slightly frayed at the free end.
A study of the first English and French printed sailing directions with facsimile reproductions. Full bound in blue cloth with gilt and some blind stamped titling. Binding is solid and interior is clean and bright. Little wear shows on extremities of cloth and of the illustrated dust jacket, else book is in great condition.
May 1938, Small 8vo, 36 pgs. Tourist guide bound in stapled pictorial wraps in mylar envelope. Fold out map attached to inside of back cover. Bottom spine end bumped. Otherwise light wear for a 1938 edition. Interior clean. Inside, an historical overview celebrates imperial Rome, beginning with a quote by Mussolini.
TWO VOLUME SET. Sm4to. Full-bound in light brown calf with raised bands on spine, gilt stamped title labels still present but small chips in spots. Front board of vol. 1 has detached. Rear is cracked, but still attached by thread. Both boards detached from vol. 2. Leather of both volumes is cracking and chipping; general rubbing and wear to covers and spine; leather on top corners very worn. Interiors are clean with only a scattering of foxing throughout both volumes. These volumes are elaborately engraved throughout the text with all plates and foldouts present, including a hand colored map of Northumberland preceding the title page.
