Book is clean throughout with some light discoloration on end papers. Previous owners names and provenance of this volume noted on ffep. DJ in surprisingly good shape, a 1 and a 1 1/2 closed tear on head of spine were repaired with tape some time ago, otherwise only light soil and mild chipping to extremities due to age. Both volumes have been rebound; original spine and cover paper are tipped in at end of text. 2 volumes beautifully bound in full green leather with heavy gilt decoration and marbled endpapers. Gilt tooling along board edges, raised bands, maroon title lables, deckle edges. All gilt bright and clean. Text is decorated throughout with with numerous cuts. Clean and solid. Second edition. Small 8vo, 213 pgs + ads. Full bound green cloth with black, white and beige stamped pictorial cover, black title on spine. Three black and white plates. This book is in remarkably fine condition, the cloth is clean, the binding solid, and the pages crisp. There is a small bit of dust soil at the head of the text block, but no mentionable wear. This rare title by Baum pseudonym Suzanne Metcalf (spelled Susanne on cover) is a must have for true Baum enthusaists!
