The 4 1/2 litre Bentley is one of the most iconic pre-war cars, and the super charged 4 1/2 litre "blower" Bentley is today one of the most sought-after and most valuable cars for collectors.
The "Bentley Boys" won several high-profiles races in Bentleys, and Woolf Barnato and Bernardo Rubin won with a 4 1/2 litre car in 1928. Five supercharged "Blower" Bentleys were built to compete at Le Mans, but the car's Achilles Heel was its reliability, and it never won the 24-hour race.
This Manual provides details of the 4 1/2 litre unsupercharged and "Blower" Bentley racing cars, detailing their period racing history, anatomy and engineering, and provides an insight into owning, maintaining, and running an example of this iconic card today. Illustrated with period photographs and design and engineering material, plus photographs of restored examples in use today.

-Documents the friendship between Steve McQueen and his Le Mans co-star Siegfried Rauch -Includes photos of Rauch's family album, as well as original photos of the film set and of rare documents -Features interviews with contemporary witnesses Steve McQueen: actor, filmmaker, racing driver - and friend. Siegfried Rauch, who plays McQueen's unyielding rival in the film classic Le Mans, was a close friend of the actor in real life. Rauch takes us through this book and, for the first time, tells us how it was: what McQueen was like, the time he ate sauerkraut at the Rauch's, or played with their children - and how he became their godfather. Rauch shows a different, private side to the 'king of cool'. The other stars of Le Mans have their say as well: the real racing drivers. Herbert Linge reminisces about the Porsche 908 - which belonged to McQueen - that Linge drove as a dolly during the race. Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood tell about their victory in the Porsche 917 - the first Porsche overall victory at the Sarthe. Stuntman Dr. Erich Glavitza, who also prepared the cars, explains what happened in 1970 during the shooting in 'Solar Village', and David Piper, who lost a leg during the production. This unique book offers completely new insights into the filming of what has become a cult classic.

Touring cars through to Mike Rockenfeller's Schaeffler-Audi RS5 also take their place of honour here. The choice of vehicles has been made to ensure all important races and racing series are included. Extensive statistics complete this comprehensive book.
-Formula E - the world's first fully electric international single-seater street racing series - consists of ten teams and twenty drivers, competing on the international stage. This book charts Formula E's rise, the races and the vehicles Electric and electrifying: Formula E is reinventing motor sport. Things here aren't calm and quiet - even if the race cars competing in the world's first e-racing series serve up a unique low-decibel sound. They are more reminiscent of Star Wars or other futuristic sci-fi analogies. Fans of traditional motor sport are engaged in hefty debate. But the thrilling racing series established by charismatic pioneer Alejandro Agag is winning over cities around the world and the hearts of entirely new audiences through breathtaking technology, exciting sport, family-friendly entertainment, and famous names. Sure, Senna, Prost, Piquet and Villeneuve hearken back to a long and storied history of motor sport, but the young series' recipe for success is more nuanced and the number of ingredients far greater. After four seasons with the first generation of vehicles, the pioneering years of Formula E are drawing to a close - four seasons with 45 riveting races, epic face-off, technological advances, lifestyle events and building bridges with people from across the globe.

Professional automobile racing has always been dominated by sanctioning bodies whose main goal was to ensure competition. That has meant seeing that cars are well matched--in body shape or chassis/engine combinations or engine size. But what about an all-out competition, in which one team's idea of the fastest race car could be pitted against another's, regardless of mechanical "parity"? This was what the International Motor Sports Association's (IMSA) Grand Touring Prototypes (GTP) race series was about. The Series ran from 1981 to 1993, and it was one of the most exhilarating racing experiences of all time.
This book is the first to profile the amazing machines that resulted from the GTP's flat-out competition among different--and passionate--ideas about what might be the fastest way around a track: the V-12 with its better ground-effect tunnels but higher center of gravity (CG); the flat six with its low CG but severely-restricted ground-effect tunnels; and others that employed elaborate wings and air dams.
Here are the people behind this engineering free-for-all, the culmination of almost a century of automobile racing experience. And here are eighteen of the most competitive vehicles they designed. Using photography, diagrams, drawings and first-person accounts from the men who built them, Inside IMSA's Legendary GTP Race Cars offers a detailed look at the technology that drove some of the world's most exciting race cars, the likes of which may never be seen again.
